Oh wow, shooting with a vengeance I see :) This is some very creative and varied work, there's a lot to digest in each photo. Excellent stuff.
I wish I could see what #6 Local Clocktower in Petaluma looks like... |

Thanks. Fixed #6, take a look. The last shot BTW was with my new Sigma 150-500 monster zoom. Awesome lens.

Wow! You have introduced me to more of California I need to see!
I love that round barn shot! Looks like something I'd do with a fish-eye lens. And just where is "Martian Landscape' taken? What a strange place. 'Seal on the Rocks' - sounds like a drink! Oh man, why am I stuck in this place. California is great; I just love it! |

If you click on the images, they should take you to flickr which should have the spots mapped. The "Martian Landscape" is from Trinity Lake, in Trinity County, CA way up north in the state north of the town of Weaverville. The lake is down more than 150 feet and the resultant landscape was dubbed Martian by my daughter.

Lovely images Mike. Saw them on FB first but they look better here. Like 'em both.
Seeing these and with thoughts drifting to your 645D, I saw this today on that other forum. Dude, you totally need one of those for your camera. ![]() |

Saw this setup at our local farmer's market several weeks ago and had to get some shots of it.
#1 This guy was doing 1850 era tintype images right on site, processed in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes. ![]() #2 The large format camera was shooting on to a treated 4x5 metal plate. ![]() #3 I didn't get all the chemical's down that they were using but the final step was to coat the plate with varnish. Here is the result ![]() #4 For fun, I set my K-3 to b&w jpegs and did some in camera captures myself of the shoot. ![]() #5 The Pose ![]() I've since read up on the tintype process and have learned that because it was traditionally such a quick process, it gained wild popularity for street use in the 1850's and 1860's. I'm not ready to step this far back but...you never know. |

Even the photographer looks like he's from a bygone era!
Love the results! |

That's a really neat set-up, and excellent documentation BCB.
Always love seeing your work too Mike, and Delta Sunset is gorgeous. I will admit to not processing this one, but I did take the shot, so I claim it as my own! ![]() |

@jeff - yes, he was also wearing a straw hat when I first saw him and that really looked in character. I later met him a week ago in the local REI sporting goods store where he is a sales clerk. I was looking for a head lamp that also has a red light, he steered me to a good one that he uses in his large format darkroom work. We talked about the joys of film processing too. Nice man.
@TP - wonderful shot that you'll treasure for many years no doubt. |

I already treasure that picture of my daughter and me. I didn't even realize tiffpix was taking a picture of us at the time.
I've got a different kind of shot that I took on September 9th. I was planning to shoot the Super Moon, but the shot I ended up with instead is very different (and aimed about 180 degrees away from the moon) Laser Beams ![]() There's a story behind that shot, one involving illegally parking between the highways and a cop letting me get away with a warning because he's a Pentax fan :) |
