this is a close crop of a large fungi growing on the side of a tree. i took this pic late this past fall. i like the texture.

wow, this is perfectly lit to catch all the lamellae(gills). The bright color and tight composition is just icing on the cake. nice.

Wow, that's an excellent shot. Making fungi interesting instead of repellent takes some skill. I'm also hoping you'll share your lighting secret. :)

i can't take any credit for the lighting, other than the fact that i noticed how nice the fungi looked. it was a sunny day with snow on the ground, so the light was being reflected up by nature, not me.

as to the sharpness. no HDR...i don't have any photo programs other than the sony software that came with the computer, which is pretty low tech. i mostly use the software for just cropping.

the sharpness is due to a tripod, a long exposure (1 second or so) and polarizer filter.

i'm always on the hunt for interesting fungi/mushrooms.
